Introducing our Scientific Advisory Board
Meet reMarkable’s Scientific Advisory Board, a collaboration with heavyweights in cognitive science and calm tech. Our scientific advisors help us understand how technology affects attention — and guide us in creating products that protect focus and support more deliberate ways of working. This work is designed to spur innovation, test ideas through rigorous research, and champion focused thinking.

Audrey van der Meer
Neuropsychology professor
Codirector of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology’s (NTNU) Developmental Neuroscience Laboratory, van der Meer has spent more than two decades researching the brain. Her groundbreaking studies show that handwriting engages more brain regions than typing and reinforce reMarkable's core principle: the cognitive benefits of using pen and paper.
She helps us design hardware and software that make it easier for you to remember, learn, and think.

Amber Case
Calm technology pioneer
Named one of Fast Company's “Most Influential Women in Technology,” Case is a researcher, author, and advocate at the intersection of humans and technology. She founded the Calm Tech Institute to champion digital tools that improve our lives, without distraction and stress.
Case has Calm Tech Certified™ reMarkable Paper Pro and guides our development of products that support you while staying in the background.

Anne-Laure Le Cunff
Neuroscientist at King's College London
A leading mindful productivity expert, Le Cunff focuses on attention and curiosity in digital environments. Her acclaimed book Tiny Experiments challenges our goal-obsessed culture, while her Ness Labs community develops methods to help people learn and thrive.
Her approachable, science-based techniques support our creation of tools that deepen thinking and learning in our distraction-filled world.

Dr. Thomas Ramsøy
Neuroscientist and neurotechnology expert
Ramsøy, founder and CEO of neuroscience firm Neurons, has published research on technology and the brain that has been cited more than 5,000 times. His studies that compare our paper tablets to PCs have shown that reMarkable users experience 30% lower cognitive demand, 35% less stress, and 60% less mental fatigue.
He helps us design products that reduce mental strain and create the perfect conditions for clear thinking.

This is your brain on reMarkable
Neuroscientists hooked up PC and reMarkable users to a brain monitor. Here’s what they found.

‘Calm Tech’ certified
“I knew reMarkable Paper Pro was special from the moment I first opened the box,” says Amber Case of the Calm Tech Institute.
